Shopping Center, Valais (CH)

The shopping center in Valais, Switzerland, was planned and built within just one year. At the end of 2002, it was opened fully rented.
Its attractive mix of branches from retail companies, service providers, and gastronomy quickly became a customer magnet for the surrounding area. Its convenient location near the motorway, more than 400 parking spaces and good connections to public transport make shopping easy. The main tenants are a Magro hypermarket and the Athleticum sports store.
The concept of this shopping center is completely new for Switzerland: In contrast to comparable centers, the shops here are not accessed via an internal mall, but - as an American strip mall - are accessible from the outside. This means that practically all surfaces have daylight. The clear, timeless, modern architecture with its aluminum-colored corrugated iron facade makes the center appear light and manageable despite its 10,000 square meters of retail space.
